Workshop : Unlocking the Behavior of Laboratory Animals

On the 7th of October, 2023, the Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, located in Kathog, Tehsil, Jawalaji, Distt. Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, has organized a One Day Workshop centered around the theme of ” Unlocking the Behavior of Laboratory Animals”. The event commenced with a formal inauguration marked by a lamp-lighting ceremony held in the institute’s auditorium hall. Dr. Ran Singh, Managing Director, and Professor (Dr.) Mahendra Singh Ashawat, Director cum Principal, Laureate Institute of Pharmacy welcomes the eminent speaker. Professor (Dr.) A. C. Rana, serving as the Director-Principal at the Swift School of Pharmacy, Ghagar Sarai, Rajpura, Punjab, delivered an academic discourse focusing on the theme, “Unlocking the Behavior of Laboratory Animals: A Hands-On Workshop on Behavioral Parameters”. In his presentation, Professor Rana highlighted the substantial utilization of animals in research and toxicity assessments, spanning drug development, medical device evaluation, chemical testing, cosmetic product testing, personal care product assessment, household product evaluation, and other related domains. He emphasized the pressing concern of addressing species-specific environmental enrichment in parallel with comprehending the behavioral aspects of laboratory animals. Furthermore, Professor Rana discussed the meticulous selection of animal models pivotal in the realm of research and elucidated the diverse animal models, tools, and techniques employed in the domain of pharmacological screening. His presentation effectively enriched the attendees with valuable insights into the behavioral parameters of laboratory animals, prompting numerous queries and uncertainties from the participants. Professor A. C. Rana adeptly addressed these inquiries with illustrative examples. Professor CPS Verma, Dean Student Welfare; Head, Department of Pharmacognosy delivered the vote of thanks to the resource person, all teaching, and non-teaching faculty members and students of Laureate Institute of Pharmacy for their continuous support in organizing this event
