Report on Expert Talk on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): Career in IP: Unlocking Opportunities, Innovation, and Future Pathways in IPR

The Intellectual Property Rights Cell, Laureate Institute of Pharmacy (LIPh), organized an expert talk on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR): Career in IP” on 11th August 2026 at the Auditorium, Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, Kathog, Jawalamukhi, Himachal Pradesh. We were privileged to host Dr. Umesh V. Banakar, Ph.D. Professor and President, Banakar Consulting Services, Westfield, IN, USA, as the distinguished resource person for this event.

Institutional welcome and vision: Dr. Ran Singh, Managing Director, and Prof. (Dr.) Mahendra Singh Ashawat, Director-cum-Principal, Laureate Institute of Pharmacy, formally welcomed Dr. Banakar with a bouquet. In his address, Dr. Ran Singh welcomed the gathering and articulated the institute’s vision to strengthen IPR-related activities at LIPh, including plans for the development of a dedicated IPR Centre in the near future.

Introduction of the resource person: Prof. (Dr.) Aditi Kaushik, IPR Activity Co-ordinator, IPR Cell, LIPh, provided an overview of Dr. Banakar’s professional journey, highlighting his significant achievements and contributions to the IPR community.

Session highlights

The talk offered valuable insights into: Core concepts and fundamentals of IPR. Career pathways in Intellectual Property for pharmacy graduates and professionals Patents, trademarks, copyrights, and design rights. The expanding role of IPR in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors

The session was highly informative and impactful for students, faculty members, and professionals interested in innovation, research, and regulatory aspects of pharmaceutical sciences.
